CARRYING WOMAN ORIGINALS™ TO PUBLISH FIRST TITLE, 'THE OLD PEOPLE'

Cheyenne, WY (September 15, 2021) — Carrying Woman Originals™, a recently created imprint of independent publisher Cow Eye Press, will be releasing its first title, The Old People, which tells the story of an island people and its struggle to tie a knot.

According to its author, the themes of the novel are cultural displacement, the emergence of language from silence, and the tension between the things that are timeless and the things that come and go.

"With this book I've tried to write to those essential elements that unite us as indigenous peoples," says author A. J. Perry. "The way we tie knots, the way we tell stories, the way we see and relate to the world around us."

The understated novel was written over a twelve-year period and, according to its author, is a reaction to the current state of contemporary life and literature.

"Nowadays more and more people are growing disillusioned with the trajectory of our modern society. They recognize that things can't keep moving as they are. The way we live is not sustainable. The way we communicate is not sustainable. The world needs to be looking to its indigenous peoples for guidance in these areas because that's where the answers are being preserved."

The hardcover and paperback editions of The Old People will be out on October 1, and an audiobook will be released in late November.

There will be no marketing campaign associated with the work.

ABOUT THE OLD PEOPLE: Since the beginnings of darkest silence the people of a mythical island have spent their days tying the ancient knot that binds them to their past. To tie this knot they must dig a hole; to dig a hole they first must have fire; and to make a fire that is hot enough for hole digging, the knot that they have been tying must finally be tied. From silence to mud to rope to knot to wood to words to fire, the Old People will work to tie their knot under the cool shade of the island’s original knotmaking tree.
